ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Accessibility Statement

SFI Michigan is committed to making our website usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. Whether you’re a logging professional checking a training schedule, a teacher planning a Wheels to Woods trip, or a landowner learning about sustainable forestry, you should be able to find what you need and use it without barriers.

Our Approach

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), describe how to make web content more accessible to people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have mobility, cognitive, or learning disabilities.

To work toward that goal, we:

  • Write descriptive alternative text for meaningful images and mark decorative images so screen readers can skip them.

  • Use clear headings and page structure so content can be navigated by keyboard and assistive technology.

  • Provide a “Skip to Content” link at the top of every page.

  • Choose text and background colors with readable contrast.

  • Use descriptive link text so it’s clear where a link will take you.

  • Review new pages and content for accessibility before publishing.

Known Limitations

Accessibility is ongoing work, and some areas of our site may not yet fully meet our goals. Some older PDF documents and resources may not be fully accessible to screen readers. If you need a document in another format, let us know and we’ll provide it.

Our site also links to resources we don’t manage, including the logging professional portal and training registration at sfimi.org, SFI’s national site at forests.org, Project Learning Tree, Trees for Tomorrow, and our social media channels. We can’t control the accessibility of those sites, but we’re happy to help you get the information you need from them.

Need Help or Want to Report a Problem?

If you have trouble using any part of our website, or if you need information in an alternative format, please contact us. Tell us the page or document you were using and the problem you ran into, and we’ll do our best to respond within [5] business days.
