PROTECTS ECOSYSTEMS

Sustainable Forestry Initiative Michigan safeguards forests, wildlife habitats, and natural resources through responsible, science-based practices. These efforts ensure healthy, resilient ecosystems that can thrive for future generations.

COMBATS CLIMATE CHANGE

By promoting sustainable forest management, SFI Michigan helps forests absorb and store carbon more effectively. Healthy forests play a critical role in reducing greenhouse gases and strengthening climate resilience.

SUPPORTS ECONOMIES

SFI Michigan strengthens local communities by supporting jobs in forestry, manufacturing, and conservation. Sustainable practices ensure long-term economic growth while preserving natural resources that businesses and families rely on.

The highest of standards

Our forest certification standard promotes sustainable management through protections for water quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and Forests with Exceptional Conservation Value. Widely adopted across North America and recognized globally, it ensures a reliable supply of wood and paper from legal, responsible sources, critical as demand grows for green building and ethical purchasing, while less than 10% of the world’s forests are certified.
